Since the brand puts such a significant focus on R&D, Assos' decision to step outside of the cycling world for its latest special project is hardly a surprising one. Seeking further inspiration, Assos turned away from human-power and towards the mechanical engineering prowess of the Mercedes AMG Petronas racing team. Branded with the signature Petronas hues, the SS. works_teamJersey_evo7 commemorates the partnership with the team's engineers and represents developments to come with signature Assos fit and style. While Assos adopted brand new graphics for the jersey this year, it handled fit and construction in the same expert manner as it has in the past, as the SS. Works isn't a new model for the brand. If you already have experience with Assos gear, you'll be prepared for the tight, shorter fit of the jersey while you're out of the saddle, understanding that it only truly achieves its second-skin position once you're clipped in and stretched out on the hoods. Assos does this on purpose, of course, refusing to compromise on fit in the saddle in favor of a slightly more forgiving fit when you're standing in line for your post-ride espresso. In addition to ensuring that click-in fit, the fabric's family of synthetic fibers work to maintain a cool, dry environment across your skin as you sweat. We'd be remiss if we didn't mention the more expected, but still welcome, extras that Assos has added to the jersey, like a slim full-length zipper and the de rigeur longer arm sleeves that give it a slight aerodynamic advantage over its shorter sleeved compatriots. Three rear pockets give you space to take snacks or espresso cash along on your ride, while the longer back hem holds the waistband of the jersey in place.
