About you

The Store Manager will be responsible for managing the overall retail operations at Tacoma Bike, supervising the sales associates, overseeing buying and inventory curation. An ideal candidate will have several years of retail sales and/or buying experience, and team leadership skills.

About the Role 

We are looking for an experienced bike shop manager to join and lead our team. The Store Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of our store including staff, training, inventory control, and customer relations. This role requires excellent communication and leadership skills, a high level of product knowledge, the ability to demonstrate excellent salesmanship, and working well with our buyers, management, and offshore teams.  

Skills & Qualifications 

  • Minimum 2+ years of managing a successful business  
  • Minimum 3+ years working in a sales-focused environment  
  • A general understanding of all aspects of retail operations, such as merchandise, design, and promotions  
  • Proven ability to meet business goals and interpret data-driven reports to achieve results and identify opportunities  
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and coach others 
  • Knowledge and experience cultivating and maintaining an effective inventory  
  • Experience working with Lightspeed.  
  • Experience with inventory management, receiving POs and Inventory Counts using Lightspeed or similar software.  
  • Proficiency in administering a point of sale system and using Microsoft Excel  
  • Proficiency in interpreting and using financial metrics to drive performance  
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills  
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail  
  • Demonstrated experience in visual merchandising  
  • Knowledge of bike brands, gear, customer preferences, and industry trends  
  • Preferred knowledge of ski equipment and gear  
  • Willingness to engage customers and team in a friendly, community-oriented manner  
  • Excellent problem-solving skills  
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and multitask 

Responsibilities  

  • Manage overall operations for retail bike business to maximize store sales and achieve sales goals  
  • Measure and monitor progress and results daily  
  • Ensure all staff have the knowledge, skills, and motivation to reach goals  
  • Work with Management team on the creation of annual store business plan and calendar  
  • Provide a safe and welcoming environment for customers and staff at all times  
  • Hire new employees, train staff, and schedule shifts to achieve payroll goals  
  • Sell retail goods and ski & bike services to customers  
  • Conduct inventory checks   
  • Maintain and develop product displays  
  • Train staff and delegate tasks to retain a safe and efficient workplace and exceptional customer service  
  • Handle customer complaints and resolve conflict  
  • Ensure all operational tasks required daily are delegated and completed  
  • Plan and collaborate on local marketing efforts  
  • Work with merchandising team to plan and manage inventory levels  
  • Actively seek out ways to improve operational, marketing, and management processes 

Weekend availability required. This is a full-time position located at our shop in Tacoma. Compensation is commensurate with experience and ranges from $21-$25/hr.
